A cost-effective way to develop your team

Apprenticeships are also a highly cost-effective way to train and develop staff.

For apprentices starting from 1 August 2026, the government will fund 100% of the training and assessment costs for eligible apprentices aged 16–24 employed by organisations that do not pay the apprenticeship levy.  Apprentices aged 25 and over will normally still receive 95% funding.

If you are thinking of recruiting a new apprentice aged 16–24, you may also qualify for a new £2,000 hiring payment for apprenticeships starting from 1 October 2026..

The apprenticeship may also cover elements of mandatory training that employers would otherwise need to pay for separately. This means care providers can reduce training costs while developing skilled, qualified and confident staff.

Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate

Ideal for new and existing care staff who want to build and demonstrate the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to provide high-quality, person-centred care.

Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship

Ideal for new starters and care staff developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to provide confident, high-quality frontline care.

Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship

Ideal for experienced care staff progressing into Senior Care Worker, Care Supervisor or Team Leader roles, with greater responsibility for supervising, guiding and supporting colleagues.

Level 4 Apprenticeship – Lead Practitioner in Adult Care

Designed for experienced senior care staff who lead and support frontline teams and take greater responsibility for developing practice, quality and outcomes within adult care services.

Level 5 Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship

Ideal for registered managers, service managers and aspiring managers responsible for leading care services, managing teams, maintaining quality and compliance, and developing effective, person-centred services.

Who can take part?

The programmes may be suitable for employees aged 16 and over, including both new hires and existing staff who need a qualification for their current role or future progression.

A common misconception is that all apprentices must complete Functional Skills. This is not always the case and will depend on each learner’s existing qualifications.
